When it opened: Edmonds High School opened in 1909, Woodway High in 1967. They combined in 1990 to form Edmonds-Woodway.

Last state championship: 1990 (boys cross country)

Notable alumni: Edmonds — Rick Steves, travel author and TV host; Rusty Wailes, Olympic crew gold medalist; Mike Cooper, state representative; Jerry Gay, Pulitzer prize-winning photographer. Edmonds-Woodway — Jan Williamson, member of Washington's national-champion crew.

Bet you didn't know: The original Edmonds High School was built with a special bond in 1907 of $30,000. The current Edmonds-Woodway High School opened in 1998 and cost approximately $30 million.
