Vin Baker timeline
Sept. 25, 1997: Sonics acquire Baker in a three-team deal that sent Shawn Kemp to Cleveland. The Cavaliers sent Tyrone Hill and Terrell Brandon to Milwaukee and the Bucks sent Sherman Douglas to Cleveland.
Dec. 14, 1997: Baker sings the national anthem with his church choir prior to a game against the Clippers.
Feb. 4, 1998: Against Indiana, equals career high of 41 points.
April 24, 1998: Plays in his first career playoff game against Minnesota. In the next round, he sets playoff scoring high of 28 points against the Lakers.
January 1999: When the NBA lockout ends, Baker reports for practice about 50 pounds overweight.
Aug. 8, 1999: Sonics sign Baker to a seven-year, $86.7 million extension.
Aug. 22, 2000: A four-team, 13-player trade that would have sent Baker to the New York Knicks collapses after Detroit pulls out.
September 2000: Plays for the gold-medal winning U.S. basketball team at the Sydney Olympics. Averages 8 points, 3 rebounds in eight games.
April 1, 2001: Starbucks owner Howard Schultz leads a group that buys the Sonics. Soon after, the new owner publicly questions Baker's work ethic, which sours the team's relationship with the power forward.
May 4, 2002: Sonics fall 101-78 to San Antonio in the first round of the playoffs. Baker contributes nine points on 4-for-9 shooting and two rebounds in the defeat.
Yesterday: Sonics trade Baker and guard Shammond Williams to Boston for forward Vitaly Potapenko and guards Kenny Anderson and Joseph Forte.
Feb. 11, 2003: Boston plays at KeyArena in what will be Baker's first visit to Seattle as a Celtic.
