Agnew takes Woodinville AD job, gives up football

The first task of Terry Agnew's new job as Woodinville High School's athletic director will be finding a replacement for himself as football coach.

Agnew resigned as the Falcons' football coach this week when he accepted the job of athletic director at Woodinville. He will continue as the school's baseball coach.

Agnew had been planning to return as football coach in the fall, but that changed when the athletic director position came open next school year because of Joe Meagher's return to full-time teaching in the school's social studies department.

"(Being an athletic director) is something that I have wanted to do, and even though the timing wasn't great, it was a great opportunity," Agnew said.

Agnew coached football for 12 seasons at Woodinville and had a career record of 71-39, and last made the state playoffs in 1998. The Falcons were 6-3 and tied for second last season, but lost a winner-to-state mini-playoff game.

"We have a great group of kids coming back, and it's hard to think of trying to do something different," Agnew said. "I find myself sitting down and doing planning for next season, and I just remember I don't do that anymore."
