Marr sentenced to 23 years for bank robbery
SEATTLE — Aristotle Marr, who fled to Jamaica before returning to plead guilty to six charges stemming from a 2000 bank robbery, was sentenced today to 23 years in prison.
The sentence was at the high end of the state's sentencing range for the charges, which included robbery, assault and unlawful imprisonment.
Marr, 26, a former straight-A high school student and football star, pleaded guilty in King County Superior Court last month, more than a year after he turned himself in. He was one of two men who held up a Wells Fargo bank branch in the city's north end on June 22, 2000.
Marr's accomplice, Daniel del Fierro, wounded a police officer before being killed in a shootout when the robbers' motorcycle failed to start.
Police said Marr held a couple captive in their home during his getaway.
In court today Marr apologized to his victims, including the wounded officer and the couple he held captive. Marr said the "situation got very out of hand."
