Aerospace: Kieran Whitney was promoted to director of in-flight crew scheduling, planning and administration at Alaska Airlines.

Architecture: Elizabeth MacPherson, Mark Smedley and Bryon Ziegler were named principals at Mithun.

Art: Herman McKinney and Doug Norberg joined the board of trustees and Robert Cundall was named chief financial officer at the Seattle Art Museum.

Banking/finance: John Richardson was named senior vice president of e-business at Washington Mutual. Patricia Gerken, Shawn Meeks, Kurt Owen and Elizabeth Urner were promoted to managing directors of investments at U.S. Bancorp Piper Jaffray. James Kemmish was named vice president and senior relationship officer at Pacific Northwest Bancorp. Kathleen Tye was named a business-banking manager and Donovan Olson regional manager of Puget Sound business banking at Wells Fargo.

Communications: Bob Moore was named co-president and executive creative director and Randy Browning was promoted to chairman and chief executive officer at Publicis in the West.

Construction: Jim Sansburn was named controller and Mark Hillman was hired as a project engineer at Aecon Buildings, Lynnwood.

Engineering: Yu Jung Chang and Brad Stein were named vice presidents at HDR. Janet Prichard was named director of marketing and business development at Perteet Engineering, Everett. Dave Cook was promoted to associate at GeoEngineers.

Health care: Patrizia Showell was hired as an internal-medicine physician, David Bowe as a pediatrician and Anita Geving as the chief operating officer at The Polyclinic. Rush Youngberg was hired as an attending radiologist at Children's Hospital & Regional Medical Center. Susan Resneck Pierce was selected to serve on the Presidents Leadership Group by the U.S. Dept. of Education's Higher Education Center for Alcohol and Other Drug Prevention.

Manufacturing: Greg Carlson was named president and chief executive officer at Briggs Plumbing Products.

Marketing: Grace Vigil was appointed treasurer at the Seattle chapter of the Society for Marketing Professional Services.
