KENMORE — Now the serious season begins.

A Monday coin flip by KingCo 4A athletic directors had predetermined Inglemoor would be the Lake Division's No. 2 team regardless of last night's outcome, but the Vikings avoided a tie with Eastlake by sprinting to a 70-49 boys basketball win over the Wolves.

Inglemoor (8-5, 13-7 overall) plays Woodinville Friday in the opening round of the double-elimination Sea-King 4A District tournament. Eastlake (6-7, 12-8) will play Bothell at Garfield.

"It's a brand new season for everybody," said Inglemoor Coach Greg Lowell. "There's about seven teams in this league that are capable of winning on any night.

"The talent throughout the league is so much better this year," he said. "This could be the year someone gets past Garfield or Franklin."

Danny Nwaelele hit three second-half three-pointers to finish with 23 points and help the Vikings end a three-game losing skid. Dan Taylor added 17 points and Phil Lehmann put in 11 off the bench.

Jon Rayment led the Wolves with 17 and Mitchell Belcher had 11.

Inglemoor trailed 30-28 at halftime, but opened the third quarter with a 14-2 run.

Eastlake's Chase Griffin, averaging 20 points per game but slowed by sore ankles, hit just 2 of 10 shots and finished with a season-low four points.

"We have not had our entire team healthy for 2-1/2 weeks," Eastlake Coach Richard Belcher said. "Friday we'll have everybody back. We ask a lot of Chase, but I've known him for a long time. I know he'll be ready for the playoffs."

At Garfield 74, Roosevelt 59 — Top-ranked Garfield went on a 17-0 run in the fourth quarter, breaking a 49-49 tie in the Bulldogs' regular-season finale.

Brandon Roy led Garfield (12-1, 17-2) with 33 points. Marcelus Kemp added 27. Dan Morris led Roosevelt (3-10, 6-14) with 18 points in the Roughriders' last game.

Roosevelt scored the first basket of the final quarter to tie the score at 49-49. But Garfield took over and, only three minutes later, led 66-49 on a rebound basket by Kemp with 4:30 left.

Garfield will face Juanita Friday night at Garfield in the Sea-King 4A District tournament.

Franklin 99, at Lake Washington 62 — Aaron Brooks and Anthony Grant each scored 22 points and the No. 7 Quakers shot a blazing .635 (40 of 63) from the field. Brooks also had 15 assists and eight rebounds for Mountain Division champion Franklin (12-1, 17-3), which plays Redmond in its district-tournament opener. Andrew Haskins scored 24 points and John Reggans 16 in the final game for the Kangs (1-12, 4-16).

At Woodinville 60, Juanita 58 — Vytas Dargis-Robinson hit a three-pointer as time expired to cap a frantic last-minute rally by the Falcons. Woodinville (8-5, 13-7) trailed by five with 50 seconds left, but Josh Berg hit a three-pointer and, after a Juanita free throw, the Falcons' Ian Warner made two free throws with 10 seconds left to cut the deficit to 58-57. Juanita (2-11, 5-15) missed the front end of a one-and-one free throw and Woodinville rebounded to set up Dargis-Robinson's winning shot. Ford Harris of Juanita scored 22 points.

Bothell 60, at Redmond 38 — Trailing by 10 at halftime, the Cougars (9-4, 14-6) outscored the Mustangs 40-8 in the second half. Stefan Clark scored 15 points, Daylen Haines 14 and Ryan Rourke 13 for Bothell. Sam Colter led Redmond (4-9, 10-10) with 11. Both teams advance to the playoffs.
