Notable — Lake Stevens has moved to 4A after winning past two 3A state titles, and Vikings are undefeated in dual competition ... Barnes, who will wrestle for Boise State next year, missed several weeks with a broken rib, but returned last week to help Lake Stevens beat Cascade in battle of division's top teams. Barnes seeks his fourth straight individual state title ... Oak Harbor, ninth at state last season, is considered the only other league dual-meet title contender ... Stanwood, led by Joe Webb (152) and Clancy Seymour (189), was eighth last year in 3A state meet but perhaps only fourth best in WesCo 4A North.

Notable — Everett, 6-0 in league dual meets and 10-2 overall, is division's surprise team. Brian Turner (215) is 12-3. Seagulls' Chad Waddell (171) and Tim Irwin (119) also could compete for state berths ... Edmonds-Woodway appears to be strongest in lighter weights... Lynnwood's LaGrandeur is 21-3 and Cogdill 16-1.

Notable — Juanita and Bothell have won past two league tournaments, and are only unbeaten teams in league dual meets. They meet Jan. 22 at Bothell ... Inglemoor's Sewell is a defending league champ and reached final of last month's Tri-State tournament in Idaho, a meet many consider tougher to win than state tournament... Last year, Bothell won its first league-tournament title in nine years. Cheever is Cougars' only returning state qualifier, but Bothell is unbeaten in league matches in large part because of strength of Davidson, Caleb Stripes (112) and Palmer Weaver (160) ... Nate Bean (140), twin brother of Eastlake quarterback Alex Bean, is one of Wolves' two returning league finalists, with Jeff Hall.

Doug Pecha, who took over at Tahoma this season after long-time coach Brian Higa left, is no stranger to success. In three years as coach at Central Kitsap, Cougars had three top-eight finishes and were fourth last year.

Notable — Spanaway Lake is defending 4A state champ, but graduated five of seven wrestlers who scored ... Decatur hopes to repeat as sub-regional champion despite loss of J.C. Ronnefeldt (6th at state at 275). Ronnefeldt, who has a football scholarship to Oregon State, left the team after one match. He had a tough time keeping his weight down, according to Coach Mike Bressler ... Two of Decatur's top wrestlers are the coach's sons, Jason (160) and Kyle (171). Teammate Nick McCluskey (152) helped Decatur win state soccer title last spring and is one of area's best punters ... Bethel Coach Kyle Weakley was a state champion his senior year at Forks, winning Class A title at 122 in '92.

Notable — O'Dea is going for its 12th consecutive Metro title. Newcomer Bainbridge appears to be top challenger. ... O'Dea's strength is in lightweights to middleweights ... The only Metro wrestler to win a state title was Kevin Riley (135) of Blanchet in 1983.

Notable — Highline has won 18 Seamount dual meets in a row ... League's two divisions will go separate ways at regionals in two weeks. King Division wrestlers will compete at Liberty against KingCo 3A and Metro. Pierce Division wrestlers head south to Chehalis, where teams from Pac Nine also will be involved.
