Three kickers given tryout by Seahawks
KIRKLAND — Seahawks Coach Mike Holmgren said Monday he would not conduct auditions after kicker Rian Lindell missed two field goals in Sunday's 24-20 loss to Miami.
But yesterday, the Seahawks had three kickers in for tryouts, including Shayne Graham, who practiced with the team during training camp and was released before the regular season. Graham converted all six of his extra-point attempts during the exhibition season.
Graham, who played at Virginia Tech, is the Big East Conference's all-time scoring leader with 371 points.
None of the three kickers was signed yesterday, so Lindell's job appears to be safe, for now. Lindell, who played at Washington State, has made 9 of 15 field-goal tries. He was 15 for 17 last season.
