Man sentenced in slaying of Aberdeen teen

MONTESANO, Grays Harbor County - An Aberdeen man has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for the April stabbing death of a teenage boy attacked as he walked home from a bowling alley.

The courtroom was packed when Dionicio Russell was sentenced for the first-degree murder of Daryn C. Tolle. Russell did not know the Aberdeen High School sophomore.

"I do not know why I killed Daryn Tolle, but I do remember stabbing him," he said in a signed statement.

Russell and a friend were on their way to buy beer when they came across Tolle the night of April 8. The friend, Matthew Christian, pleaded guilty to rendering criminal assistance and was sentenced to a year in jail.
