Transient charged in Capitol Hill beating
SEATTLE - A Virginia man, who was severely beaten on Capitol Hill Wednesday, remains in a coma at Harborview Medical Center, and a young transient has been charged in the assault.
Toby Hoff, 42, of Woodbridge, Va., is in serious condition and remains in a coma with a head injury, according to a hospital spokeswoman.
Lenny Grillo, 19, has been charged with first-degree assault and is being held in the King County Jail on $100,000 bail.
The assault occurred about 3 a.m. Wednesday at Boren Park, just north of Volunteer Park. Officers said they found Hoff lying face down at the bottom of a ravine, unconscious and bleeding from both ears.
The charging documents say Grillo was found lying down a short distance away with his eyes closed. He had keys to a car that had been rented by Hoff.
Police said Grillo's clothing was bloodstained, and he had a wallet with Hoff's identification along with some bloodstained money.
