Getting There -- Base Paths To Safeco
By bus
When taking a bus to Safeco Field, there's no such thing as a free ride.
Although Mariner officials suggested it, Metro has no plans to extend the downtown free-ride zone south of Jackson Street to cover the new ballpark.
If you're starting in the free-ride zone and heading to a game, get off before Jackson and hoof it _ the ride remains free and the walk will take 10-15 minutes.
If the bus you want runs through the downtown bus tunnel, the International District stop is your best bet. From there, head west on Jackson and then south on First Avenue _ a 10-15 minute walk.
The bus tunnel is open 5 a.m.-11 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturdays. It is closed Sundays. After hours, tunnel buses use surface street stops.
Buses that run on First and Fourth avenues south of Royal Brougham, and buses that use the busway between Fourth and Sixth all stop within a 5-minute walk of the stadium. (See map for specific route numbers.)
After games, extra buses for certain routes will line up near the stadium. Buses for routes 73, 101, 150, 194 and 195 will be between Alaskan Way and First Avenue on Atlantic. Buses for route 307 will be on First Avenue between Atlantic and Massachusetts. Buses for routes 215, 226, 251 and 255 will be on Occidental between Atlantic and Massachusetts.
Metro's 24-hour rider information number is 206-553-3000.
