Prep Basketball -- Washington Boys Trying To End Skid

Washington's boys team will try to beat Oregon for the first time when the top graduating high-school senior basketball players meet in the Northwest Shootout on Friday night in Portland. Oregon's boys are 5-0 against Washington.

Three Parade magazine All-Americans will be on the court at the University of Portland's Chiles Center for the 6 p.m. girls game and 8 p.m. boys game.

Mike Dunleavy of Portland's Jesuit High, Sabrina Scott of Lake Oswego's Lakeridge and Chantelle Anderson of Vancouver's Hudson's Bay were named to the Parade all-America teams.

Dunleavy, a 6-foot-7 forward and son of the Portland Trail Blazer coach of the same name, is headed for Duke. Also on the Oregon boys team is Knappa's Brian Jackson, a small-school sensation who will attend Oregon State, and Benson Tech's Ben Coffee, a University of Washington recruit.

The Washington boys team is led by the past two Seattle Times state players of the year, 6-11 Curtis Borchardt of Eastlake and 6-5 Jamal Crawford of Rainier Beach. Borchardt is headed to Stanford, Crawford to Michigan.

Kamiakin's Emily Autrey, the Times state girls player of the year and a UW recruit, is on the Washington girls team.
