Suspect Sought In Seattle Slaying
SEATTLE - Police are still trying to determine if a 33-year-old Renton man fatally shot in a Lake Union parking lot Saturday was targeted or whether the shooting was random.
The victim, identified as Geoffrey Ramseth, was sitting in the passenger seat of a car at Chandler's Cove in the 900 block of Fairview Avenue North with a female friend when he was shot about 2:10 a.m. by a person in the car parked next to them, police said.
Ramseth died at the scene. The woman - seven months pregnant - was grazed by the bullet.
Police have created a composite sketch of the man thought to have shot Ramseth and are asking the public's help in locating him, said police spokeswoman Pam McCammon.
The man is described as white and in his mid-30s. At the time of the slaying, he had shoulder-length hair and fled in a blue or green pickup McCammon said.
Police said the woman told them she and Ramseth were old friends who had been at one of the restaurants in the area and were sitting in the car talking after the restaurant closed. She said the man drove up to the car and began shooting. The woman told police she saw the suspect, but did not know him.
