BELLEVUE
Mary Magnano Smith, who graduated from Forest Ridge School of the Sacred Heart in 1961, will return in 2000 as the head of school.
Smith now holds a similar position at the larger Schools of the Sacred Heart in San Francisco, where she is running a campaign to add a high school for boys.
Smith is the first layperson to be named permanent head of school and will replace interim head Mona Bailey on July 1, 2000.
Forest Ridge, founded in 1907, moved from Seattle's Capitol Hill to its current location atop Bellevue's Somerset Hill in 1971. It serves 323 girls from grades five to 12.
