Volleyball / Metro League All-Stars -- Panthers Head All-Metro Team

Four schools are represented on the 1998 all-Metro League volleyball first team, with league champion Seattle Prep leading the way.

The Panthers went 14-0 in Metro play, won the league tournament and finished seventh at the Class 3A state tournament. They put seniors Kelly Nolan (Metro co-MVP) and Courtney Jackson on the first team.

Seattle Prep's Gaylene Page was named coach of the year.

Jessie Hanley of Holy Names shared co-MVP honors with Nolan. Holy Names junior Caitlin Gregg was also a first-team honoree.

Ballard, which finished third in Metro and narrowly missed reaching state, placed two players on the first team, seniors Annie Beck and Fei Ye.

Senior Laura Spiers, who led Blanchet to second place in Metro, rounded out the all-league first team.
