Wrong-Way Driver Killed On I-5
SEATTLE - A Sea-Tac man was killed last night when his car, traveling the wrong way in the south express lanes of I-5, collided head on with a limousine near Northeast 85th Street.
Edward G. Slingsby, 26, was killed about 11:30 p.m. when his northbound car hit the limousine driven by Harmohinder Singh, 49, of Renton. Singh suffered pelvic and leg fractures and was in serious condition in Harborview Medical Center.
Slingsby died at the scene, according to the Seattle Fire Department.
Drivers heading south had to swerve to avoid the oncoming vehicle, according to witnesses.
One of them, Clayton Wheeler 23, of Seattle said a station wagon came "barreling down the freeway at crazy speeds" in the wrong direction. "As soon as I saw him, I started swerving out of his way," Wheeler said. "Tons of people were swerving."
Soon after, the station wagon hit the oncoming limousine
head-on.
