Ted Levine Co-Starred In `Crime Story' In '80S

Q: I've been a fan of Ted Levine's ("Moby Dick," "The Silence of the Lambs") for many years. I'm trying to recall the short-lived TV series he starred in back in the early '80s. Can you help me out?

A: Before he horrified movie-goers as the serial killer in "The Silence of the Lambs," Levine had co-starred as Frank Holman in the series "Crime Story" (1986-88). He played First Mate Starbuck in USA's recent "Moby Dick" remake and, is in Tom Hanks' HBO space opus "From the Earth to the Moon" as astronaut Alan Shepard.

Q: The mother in the WB series "7th Heaven" looks so familiar to me. I can't think of where I've seen her before.

A: Catherine Hicks, 46, has been in quite a few TV series and movies. She started out in the 1970s in "Ryan's Hope" as Dr. Faith Coleridge and, later, a TV version of "The Bad News Bears" (with Jack Weston and Corey Feldman). She's also been in the series "Tucker's Witch" and "Winnetka Road" and the feature films "Peggy Sue Got Married" and "Star Trek IV." Now she's the caring mom/minister's wife on WB's family-friendly "7th Heaven."

Q: Is J. Eddy Peck (Cole on "The Young & the Restless") related to Gregory Peck or Jim Peck, emcee of the game show "Three's a Crowd"?

A: There were no family connections for the veteran soap actor, who's been on "Dynasty" (as Roger Grimes) and "Dallas" (as Tommy McKay). Peck was born in Lynchburg, Va., and grew up in Kansas City and Joplin, Mo. His mother and father recently left Missouri to join the actor, his wife, Sonya, and their two young sons in Los Angeles.

Q: I am involved in a dispute with my father over the actress who plays Sophie Weston in the new miniseries "Tom Jones." He is under the impression she is also the actress who plays Edina's daughter on "Absolutely Fabulous."

A: Collect your winnings. Actress Samantha Morton, 21, was Sophie in the "Tom Jones" miniseries. She's also had the title role in "Jane Eyre," and was in last year's "Emma," also on A&E. Julia Sawalha played daughter Saffron on the British comedy "Absolutely Fabulous."

Q: There was a TV show on ABC called "Relativity" (1996-97). I especially loved the lead character named Leo. Can you tell me who this actor is and whether or not we will see him in anything soon?

A: David Conrad played Leo Roth on "Relativity," a TV series from the producers of "thirtysomething" and "My So-Called Life." Conrad has some feature films on his schedule. He appears in Castle Rock's "The Last Days of Disco," which opened in some theater last Friday, and "Force Majeure," with Anne Heche and Jada Pinkett, sometime this fall.
