O'dea Teammates Set For East-West Classic
O'Dea football teammates Carlos Pierre-Antoine and Mario Sweet have been named to the West Squad for the East-West Summer Classic June 26 in Kennewick.
Mark Brandeberry, Eastside Catholic wide receiver and defensive back, was the third Metro League player chosen for the West team.
Blanchet Coach George Monica will help coach the West team.
Pierre-Antoine, an all-state linebacker, will play for Notre Dame next season. Sweet, a running back, is headed for Eastern Washington.
The game is being played outside of Everett or Spokane for the first time since its founding in 1946.
"Through a long process, we were able to get it here," said Craig Beverlin, Kamiakin High School coach, who is coordinating the event. "If we do a good job, we'll get it every three years."
Among those who will play are four of the top quarterbacks in the state this past fall. They are Puyallup's Luke Huard, who is headed to the University of North Carolina; Jason Johnson of Rogers-Puyallup, who is headed to Arizona; Walla Walla's Jared Jones, who signed with Florida State; and Prosser's Tyler Thomas, who will play at Oregon State.
