Quick, before the snow melts!

KNDD-FM's annual "Board Stiff" is a last farewell to snowboarding before the spring thaw. The all-day event features loud, speedy, angry punk and ska-core bands - the kind of music favored by snowboarders and skateboarders - along with snowboarding demonstrations, equipment displays and fun on the slopes (the ticket price includes an all-day lift ticket).

Here's a rundown of the bands set to play at this year's event:

-- Rancid: The last unreconstructed punk band, Rancid is a throwback to the early '90s, with its members still sporting mohawks, bondage trousers and snarly attitude. The band's short, quick tunes (one of its albums had 23 cuts) features some surprisingly supple guitar work.

-- Blink 182: Punkers, too, but with a more modern look and sound, carried over from early grunge.

-- The Specials: The kings of Britain's 2-Tone movement in the '70s, which launched the ska trend, back in action (see accompanying story).

-- Our Lady Peace: The hard-rocking Canadian band had a modern-rock hit with the title track of its new album, "Clumsy." The song was featured on the soundtrack of the teen thriller flick "I Know What You Did Last Summer." Three years ago, OLP scored an alterna-hit with "Starseed."

-- Harvey Danger: Loud, noisy Seattle band formed by a bunch of roommates, all University of Washington Daily staffers, back in the early '90s.
