Two Teens Charged With Boy's Murder
EVERETT - Two teenagers have been charged with first-degree murder in the shooting death of a 16-year-old Burien youth, whose body was found in a south Everett field two weeks ago.
John Lathon, 17, of North Bend, and Frederick Moore, 16, of Snoqualmie, were to be arraigned Monday in the murder of Anthony Genzale.
Genzale's body was found by passers-by Feb. 12. He had been shot twice.
Prosecutors said the victim, the two arrested teens and a fourth youth had been on a crime spree Feb. 11. Using a stolen car, the group drove around the Seattle area while Genzale allegedly committed two armed robberies, authorities said.
The four eventually stopped at an Everett field, where Genzale, Lathon and Moore allegedly got out of the vehicle, ostensibly to do some target shooting, prosecutors said. Lathon then allegedly robbed Genzale of his money and fatally shot him, authorities said.
The two teens were being held in Snohomish County Jail in lieu of $150,000 bail each.
The youths will be treated as adults under a state law that calls for 16- and 17-year-olds to be tried as adults when charged with serious, violent felonies.
