Realnetworks Acquires Vivo Software
SEATTLE - RealNetworks, a maker of audio and video software for the Internet, announced today it has acquired Vivo Software, a developer of "streaming" media technology in Waltham, Mass.
The deal, valued at $17.1 million, will be completed within 60 days by exchanging all outstanding shares of Vivo stock for 1.1 million new RealNetworks shares. The new shares will represent 3.4 percent of RealNetworks' total 32 million shares.
Vivo, founded in 1993, produces tools that enable Internet site developers to deliver video and audio information over corporate intranets and the World Wide Web.
