Brent Mackie, Lambright's Stepson, Dies

Brent Mackie, stepson of Washington football coach Jim Lambright, was found dead in his Everett apartment on Tuesday by family members. He was 39.

Snohomish County medical examiners have not determined a cause of death. His wife, Tracey, discovered the body and called 911. Mackie did not respond to CPR from an emergency unit and was pronounced dead at the scene.

In addition to his wife, Mackie is survived by his children, Paige and Garrett; his parents, Jim and Lynne Lambright; two brothers, Brad and Bart Mackie; a sister, Regan Campbell; a stepsister, Kris Lambright; and stepbrother, Eric Lambright.

He was the only one of Lambright's stepsons not afflicted with Niemann-Pic Type C disease, a fatal genetic disorder that interferes with the body's ability to metabolize cholesterol.

Mackie, a Seattle native, graduated from Meadowdale High School and played football at Washington and Montana State. He lettered for the Huskies in 1978.

A memorial service will be Monday at 10 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Everett, 1616 Pacific Ave. A reception will be held immediately after the service.
