Seattle In Abercrombie's Rearview Mirror

Abercrombie & Fitch, the clothing store that for years anchored the corner of Fifth Avenue and University Street in downtown Seattle, has vacated its space in the Four Seasons Olympic Hotel.

It is consolidating its Seattle retail operations at Redmond Town Center and has no plans to reopen another downtown Seattle store, said Nancy Thompson, manager of the Eastside Abercrombie & Fitch that opened in August.

Doug Housley, executive assistant manager of the Olympic Hotel, said a replacement for the Seattle Abercrombie has not been named.

Laura Ashley was looking at the Abercrombie space last year for an expanded apparel and home-furnishings store, but Housley said Laura Ashley would remain for now in its current space in the Olympic on University near Fourth Avenue.
