Campaign Financing -- Ethical Paper Has Standards
The Seattle Times claims, "It is the intention that its news reports be fair and accurate in every respect." A news report is not an editorial column; however, an ethical newspaper still holds its columnists to standards of decency and journalistic integrity.
The vicious invective of Michelle Malkin crossed into libelous territory when she assigned motives to the campaign contributors she named in her column on Dec. 23 ("Seattle's city establishment: pimps for corporate welfare").
The destructive language throughout Malkin's poorly written column diminishes The Seattle Times and brings it to a tabloid level of smear journalism.
