`Northern Exposure' Reruns Begin Oct. 6
Q: Is "Northern Exposure" coming back in reruns? It was rerun for a short while, shown after midnight. It's such a good show and much better than the junk TV shown these days.
A: A&E will come to the rescue Oct. 6 when it adds "Northern Exposure" to its Monday through Friday schedule. The offbeat series, set in fictional Cicely, Alaska, was broadcast on CBS for five years, then rerun for a year in syndication. Several cast members who made their mark on the show are keeping busy these days. Besides expecting a baby, Janine Turner (Maggie) is now on the big screen as June Cleaver in the remade "Leave It to Beaver." Rob Morrow (Dr. Fleischman) has signed to play John Wilkes Booth in TNT's "The Day Lincoln Was Shot." John Corbett (Chris) stars in Fox's new sci-fi series, "The Visitor," premiering Friday.
Q: I really like the show "Poltergeist: The Legacy." Is the actress Robbie Chong any relation to Rae Dawn Chong?
A: Yes. Robbie's the daughter of Cheech & Chong comic Tommy Chong, and sister to Rae Dawn. Robbie's done other TV roles, including a recurring part on last season's "Murder One" and another Showtime series, "Red Shoe Diaries." On "Poltergeist," she's psychic anthropology student Alexandra Moreau.
Q: I was wondering who plays the Wakefield twins on "Sweet Valley High." Is it one person or two?
A: Britanny and Cynthia Daniel, one-time Doublemint gum twins, are the stars of the teen show "Sweet Valley High." Britanny plays the less-than-sweet Jessica Wakefield; Cynthia is the demure Elizabeth. "Sweet Valley High" joins the UPN network Monday, airing Monday through Friday afternoons and Sunday mornings.
Q: Did the late actor Brandon de Wilde have a TV series in the '50s or early '60s. Was it "Jamie," or something like that? Will it ever be rebroadcast?
A: The young star of "Shane" and "The Member of the Wedding" was featured in many TV productions during the 1950s and '60s, but "Jamie" was his only regular series role. On ABC during the 1953-54 season, "Jamie" was the story of 11-year-old Jamie McHummer, who begins a new life with relatives after the death of his parents. There are no plans to rebroadcast the series. De Wilde died in a 1972 auto accident.
Q:. I am a huge fan of David Spade and the show "Just Shoot Me" (Tuesday nights on NBC). Please tell me what he is doing now.
A: The former "Saturday Night Live" comic is hard at work taping new episodes of "Just Shoot Me," which stars Laura San Giacomo as a daughter who goes to work for her magazine editor father (George Segal). Season 2 of the show, which debuted in the spring, begins Sept. 23. Also on Spade's horizon is a new comedy feature with Marlon Wayans, from the director of "Wayne's World."
