You Can Find Scott Baio On FOX's New `Rewind'

Q: Scott Baio played the young doctor assisting Dick Van Dyke on "Diagnosis Murder" when it first began. Why did he leave the show and what is he doing now?

A: Baio had other TV ventures in mind when he left "Diagnosis Murder" in 1995. Starting Sept. 11, the former "Happy Days"/"Charles in Charge" star returns to series TV in the new sitcom "Rewind." The Fox show will face stiff competition from NBC's "Friends," which also is scheduled Thursdays at 8 p.m. "Diagnosis Murder" begins its fifth season Sept. 25.

Q: I'm a serious "X-Files" fan and I loved the performance given by Brad Dourif in the episode "Beyond the Sea," the one where Scully's dad dies. I also saw him on "Millennium" and I was wondering about any other work he's done.

A: Dourif's film work started in 1975 when he played the troubled, stuttering teen Billy Babbit in "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest." He won a Golden Globe, a British Oscar and an Academy Award nomination for that role. Other early career highlights include "Eyes of Laura Mars," "Wise Blood," "Heaven's Gate" and David Lynch's "Dune." He spent the last half of the '80s doing low-budget horror flicks such as "Child's Play" (1 and 3)," `"ritters 4," `"he Exorcist 3," `"ody Parts," etc. Besides the `"-Files" and `"illennium" roles, he's also appeared on TV in the series `"abylon 5" and `"tar Trek: Voyager." He co-stars in Tuesday's Fox movie `"f Looks Could Kill." Look for Dourif next in the fourth `"lien" movie, `"lien: Resurrection," with Sigourney Weaver and Winona Ryder, scheduled for a Thanksgiving release.

Q: It's wonderful about "Due South's" return. Now, what can we do about "Dangerous Minds"? We did our best to follow it, but with weekly day and time changes, no pattern could be established. It's another great show getting the ax from ABC.

A: There's little chance of a "Dangerous Minds" resurrection, since its star, Annie Potts, is already working on a new comedy series for ABC, "Over the Top."

Q: What are the ages of the Taylor boys on "Home Improvement"?

A: Jonathan Taylor Thomas, who plays middle brother Randy, turns 16 Sept. 8. Zachery Ty Bryan (Brad) celebrates his 16th birthday Oct. 9. Taran Noah Smith (Mark) is 13. His birth date is April 8, 1984. The boys return for a new season of "Home Improvement" in September.

Q: My dad and I watch a show on the new Animal Planet channel called "Crocodile Hunter." It features an Australian husband-and-wife team, Steve and Terri Irwin, who own a reptile zoo and travel across the country looking for new specimens as well as possible mates for animals they already own. We've been watching for about nine months and have only seen reruns, from about 1994. We are curious to find out what happened to the Irwins and if there will be any new shows.

A: The Animal Planet says "Crocodile Hunter" is one of its most popular programs and the station is negotiating to order new episodes. For now, the older episodes continue on Wednesdays and Sundays until Sept. 28. Then "Crocodile Hunter moves to its new time slot on the fall schedule, Mondays at 8 and 11 p.m., and Sundays at 9 p.m.

Q: I am a big fan of Amy Jo Johnson. She played the Pink Ranger on "Power Rangers." Please tell me what she is doing now.

A: You'll soon see Amy playing a troubled gymnast in the NBC movie "Perfect Body," airing Sept. 8.
