Soccer -- Pride Beats Seadogs In Fourth -- Late Surge Lifts Portland To 7-5 Win Over Seattle

PORTLAND - Abraham Rubio's go-ahead goal with seven minutes left sent the Pride to a 7-5 Continental Indoor Soccer League victory over the Seattle SeaDogs (11-5) and gave Portland its fourth consecutive victory.

Franklin McIntosh and Jeff Betts each scored two goals and an assist to lead Portland (8-9). Betts has at least one point in his past 14 games and has scored a goal in 11 consecutive games.

Seattle's goals came from five different players, including Bruce Broughton, who also had an assist.

Dunn deal

The SeaDogs signed former Sounder and SeaDog James Dunn to a one-year contract. Dunn, drafted by the SeaDogs in the third round of the CISL spring draft, joins twin brother Jason on the team.

James, a defender who comes from the Carolina Dynamo of the A-League, said he wanted to play with his brother again.

Huskies home in on season

The University of Washington men's soccer team, ranked sixth in the NSCAA/Umbro preseason poll, returns to the Washington Soccer Field after playing home matches last season in Bothell and Federal Way. The Huskies host five teams that finished in the Top 25 last season, including Cal State Fullerton in the home opener on Sept. 21.

Note

-- The Sounders released midfielder Derek Crothers and traded midfielders Justin Stoddard and Nate Daligcon to Rochester for midfielder Henry Gutierrez.
