Readers' Recipe Exchange

Here's a tough one. Janet Lee grew up in the Beacon Hill area, where family birthdays were celebrated with cakes from Marvin's Bakery. It has long been out of business, but family members still reminisce about the custard frosting on those cakes.

The frosting was fairly stiff and somewhat dense, not like a buttercream frosting or pudding-type filling. If any of our readers recall this and have a similar recipe to share, Janet Lee's family would be "eternally grateful."

Are you looking for a particular recipe? Do you have a good one you want to share? Try the Readers' Recipe Exchange - the place to find help and share favorites. If we don't have the recipe, we'll ask readers to help us get it. So drop us a line with your plea or contribution.

Send it to: The Seattle Times Food Section, Readers' Recipe Exchange, P.O. Box 70, Seattle, WA, 98111. Be sure to include a name and phone number so we can check in with you.
