Circular Saw Has `Sightline Window'
Black & Decker says it has solved the age-old problem of not being able to see where the blade is cutting on a conventional circular saw.
Its new Woodhawk circular saw has a "Sightline Window" in the guard that allows the user to see where the blade is going.
In addition, the new saw is 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 pounds lighter and 40 percent quieter than conventional circular saws, according to Black & Decker.
The Woodhawk has a carbide blade, a hard-plastic kit box and a suggested retail price of under $69. It scheduled to be available at some hardware store chains and at most home centers by mid-August.
-- New decorative finish paints, glazes and their accessories plus booklets on how to use them are hitting the shelves.
Made for the do-it-yourselfer, the new finishes create an antique crackle look, faux marble and patterns. Products in the Home Decor line, by the folks at Minwax, are accompanied by free booklets and videotapes. Each will take the user through the entire process.
Minwax says the booklets are available in stores that carry its new products.
