Fugitive Held In More Assaults
SPOKANE - A man wanted on a Snohomish County child-rape warrant was charged here yesterday in two other sexual assaults.
Demetrius Dean, 34, was arrested Thursday after police spotted his car and tried to pull him over. Dean jumped out of his car and led officers on a chase that ended with his capture.
Prosecutors filed four counts against Dean, who was being held in the Spokane County Jail in lieu of $315,000 bond.
He faces single counts of first-degree rape, first-degree burglary and first-degree robbery in an attack Wednesday on a north Spokane woman.
The woman told authorities she was raped and robbed by a man who broke into her home and threatened her with a gun and a knife.
Dean also faces one count of second-degree child rape in a recent sexual assault of a 14-year-old.
Dean also is being investigated in other recent sexual assaults on teenage girls in the Spokane area, police said.
Dean, who is believed to have lived in Spokane for about four months, is wanted in Snohomish County on a warrant charging him with third-degree rape. The warrant was issued after Dean failed to appear for a Snohomish County court hearing last week.
