Area Woman Dies On Lake Ferry

MANITOWOC, Wis. - An 84-year-old Mount Vernon, Wash., woman suffocated yesterday after becoming trapped in a collapsible berth on a ferry that crosses Lake Michigan.

Edith M. Lambert was found unresponsive in her stateroom on the S.S. Badger by a relative shortly after the boat left the dock in Manitowoc en route to Ludington, Mich.

Lambert "accidentally became trapped in the bed where she was sleeping," an official said.
