Ct's New Base Will Be Dedicated

EVERETT - Community Transit's new $19.9 million operations base near the Boeing plant will be dedicated formally tomorrow, one year after its groundbreaking.

CT also is studying the merits of adding an administration headquarters building to its new site at 7000 Hardeson Rd., to replace its current office space on 164th Street Southwest near Mill Creek.

The new base has been in full operation for nearly a month. Built on a 22.5-acre abandoned quarry site, the project included restoration of Merrill Creek.

An 87,065-square-foot building houses CT's operations, maintenance and human resources departments. The site is designed to support more than 400 buses plus provide parking for 350 workers.

There are 14 bus-repair bays; a paint booth that can handle 60-foot buses; a central dispatch center; a fueling island; a bus-washing building; and environmental technology to treat stormwater and bus-wash waste.
