Kiro-TV Sets Show Lineup For CBS Return
KIRO-TV yesterday announced its new program schedule effective when CBS returns to Channel 7 on June 30 after a two-year absence.
The station will go head-to-head with other stations in local and network news between 5 and 7 p.m. The first hour of the morning show "7 Live" will largely survive the switch to CBS. And four soap operas will join the midday lineup, bumping syndicated programming to other time slots or other stations.
Anchors of the adjusted schedule of local newscasts have not been announced.
Following a complicated series of ownership changes in the market, KIRO-TV is becoming the CBS affiliate and KSTW-TV, now CBS, will get KIRO's present network, UPN.
Here is KIRO-TV's weekday schedule:
5 a.m. - News.
7 a.m. - "7 Live This Morning." The new incarnation of "7 Live," previously a two-hour show, will include "cut-in" reports from CBS.
8 a.m. - "This Morning" from CBS, with local-news "cut-ins."
9 a.m. - Unannounced.
10 a.m. - "The Price is Right."
11 a.m. - "Young and the Restless."
Noon - Local news.
12:30 p.m. - "The Bold and the Beautiful."
1 p.m. - "As the World Turns."
2 p.m. - "Guiding Light."
3 p.m. - "Montel Williams."
4 p.m. - "Hard Copy."
4:30 p.m. - "Real TV."
5 p.m. - Local news.
6 p.m. - "The CBS Evening News with Dan Rather."
6:30 p.m. - Local news.
7 p.m. - "Entertainment Tonight."
7:30 p.m. - "Seinfeld."
8-11 p.m. - CBS network prime time.
11 p.m. - Local news.
11:35 p.m. - "The Late Show with David Letterman."
On Saturdays, KIRO will air a half hour of news at 5 p.m. and 35 minutes of news at 11 p.m.
On Sundays, "CBS Sunday Morning" will be broadcast at 8 a.m., followed by "Face the Nation" at 9:30. KIRO news will air at 5 p.m., followed by "The CBS Evening News" at 5:30, an hour of local news at 6 and "60 Minutes" at 7.
