Hit-And-Run Driver Kills 2 Teens
OREGON CITY, Ore. - Two eighth-grade girls walking along a dangerous highway in the dark were struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver, the Clackamas County sheriff's office said.
The bodies of Triffina DeAngelo, 14, and Tracy Thompson, 13, were spotted in a ditch about 6 a.m. yesterday by a passing motorist.
The two girls had attended a graduation dance and a party that ended about midnight Saturday.
They were walking north along Oregon 213 three miles south of Oregon City when they were hit by a southbound vehicle, said Deputy Damon Coates, sheriff's department spokesman.
The girls probably were killed on impact, he said.
The vehicle went into a ditch and continued 100 feet before getting back on the highway and leaving, Coates said.
