Zigo Faced Abuse Charge In Kitsap County
SEATTLE - The married man with whom Air Force bomber pilot Kelly Flinn had an affair was arrested and charged with domestic violence in Washington state 1 1/2 years ago.
Marc Zigo was charged with fourth-degree assault domestic violence on Nov. 1, 1995, in Kitsap County District Court, accused of beating his wife of four months, Airman Gayla Zigo.
The crime, a gross misdemeanor, is punishable by up to a year in jail and a $5,000 fine.
But the case never went to trial. According to court records, Zigo entered into a pretrial-diversion agreement last Oct. 4 that would keep the incident off his record if he complied with certain conditions for two years.
Among other things, he was required to pay a $250 fine, not commit any further law violations, and to stay away from his wife if that was her preference.
His wife never requested a restraining order, a court official said.
The Kitsap County prosecutor's office in Port Orchard did not immediately return a telephone call for comment on the case.
It was not clear why the Zigos were in Kitsap County.
Officials at McChord Air Force Base - the only Air Force installation in Western Washington - said that if Gayla Zigo had been based there and transferred, her records would have gone with her. They said they believed her first assignment was Minot AFB, where Flinn and Marc Zigo met.
