Advertising/PR/Marketing: Steve Birge was named a writer and account executive for Hodgson/Meyers. Anne Stark, formerly of Richmond Public Relations, was named an account executive with Elgin Syferd Public Relations. Andrea Bjornson and Julie Hart were promoted from assistant account managers to account managers for EvansGroup. Dan von de Embse was appointed group creative director for CF2GS.

Law: Bridget Colleran, formerly of MSI Consulting Group, was named client services and marketing coordinator for Stanislaw Ashbaugh. W. Ward Morrison Jr., focusing on product-liability and trade-secret litigation, was named a partner with Graham & James. James Whitehead was named a shareholder with Faulkner, Banfield, Doogan & Holmes.

Banking: Russ Vranna was named vice president of marketing and business development for Washington Credit Union. Helen Rockey of Brooks Sports was elected a member of the advisory board for Seafirst Bank.

Education: Dean Lum, a partner with Forsberg & Umlauf, was appointed to the board of trustees of the Seattle Community College District by Gov. Gary Locke. Bruce Murphy was appointed provost for Seattle Pacific University.

Construction: Nancy Kitano and Mark Ossello were named project managers and Randy Brown and Michael Davidson were appointed superintendents for S.G. Taylor Construction.

Consulting: Jerry Bartlett was named director of waste recovery and compliance services for Parametrix.

Health: Joel Graves was appointed vice president of sales and marketing at PacifiCare of Washington. Robert Overell was named a venture partner, Glenn Stewart was appointed a senior associate and Timothy Carver was named an analyst for Frazier & Co. Mortgage: Jonathan Harshaw, previously of Priority Management Systems, was named chief operating officer of Qpoint International.

Organizations: Paul Gilbert of Parsons Brinckerhoff was elected to the National Academy of Engineering. Dr. Mimi FieldsPhillip Nudelman, of Group Health Cooperative of Puget Soundand Ruth Ballweg of Medex Northwest were appointed to the national Pew Health Professions Commission.

Media: Roland Pinder, formerly of Access Long Distance, was named director of network administration for Summit Communications. Nancy Bruner, formerly of Sprint Multimedia, was named to the newly created position of director of new media for The Seattle Times. David McRae was named manager of new technologies, Chris Wals operations manager, Larry Maley CAD (computer-aided design) manager, William Cruchon Jr. field services manager and Angie Tobin marketing manager for Summit Communications.

Production: Matt Billings was named writer, producer and director for Cornerstone Communications.

Publishing: Michael Romoser was appointed publisher of Seattle, a Pacific Northwest magazine.

Telecommunications: Tom Crawford was appointed director of product marketing and business development for Metawave Communications. Russell Frankenfeld was named Pacific Northwest branch manager for MCI Corporate National Accounts.

Other: Tom Slattery was appointed public-relations director for the Ruth Dykeman Children's Center.

Awards: Gerri Rasmussen of Phoenix Mortgage was named the 1996 Business Woman of the Year by the Greater Seattle Business Association. David Downing of the Ruth Dykeman Children's Center received the outstanding service award from the Child Welfare League of America.
