`In The Glitter Palace' Starred Hershey, Everett

Q: About 20 years ago, I saw a movie with Barbara Hershey and Chad Everett. She played a lesbian whose lover was framed for murder. She hires Everett to defend her lover. He falls in love with Barbara, but when she rejects his advances . . . the plot thickens. Can you help me find the title?

A: The 1977 TV movie you're looking for is titled "In the Glitter Palace." Hershey, who got her start on television in the 1960s and '70s, is in the running for a best supporting actress Oscar (for "The Portrait of a Lady") on Monday's Academy Awards telecast.

Q: A friend told me that one of the "Charlie's Angels" cast had died. I hope it wasn't Kate Jackson. I know she had cancer but beat it.

A: Actor David Doyle, 67, who played assistant John Bosley on the series "Charlie's Angels," died last month after suffering a heart attack in his Los Angeles home. In recent years, Doyle had been the voice of Grandfather Boris on Nickelodeon's cartoon series "Rugrats." Last year's critically praised special, "Rugrats Passover," will be rebroadcast on the cable station April 13, 20 and 24. He'd also done guest roles on the daytime drama "Sunset Beach" and ABC's "Lois & Clark."

Q: Several years ago there was a weekly show called "Medical Center." One of the doctors was played by Chad Everett. Can you tell me the name of the doctor he played?

A: Like Drs. Kildare and Casey before him, and "ER's" Dr. Ross today, Chad Everett's Dr. Joe Gannon was a major medical heartthrob. "Medical Center" aired from 1969-76 on CBS.

Q: In the 1950s, one of my favorite TV Westerns was Annie Oakley starring Gail Davis. Can you tell me who played her brother Tagg? I may be crazy, but I though I spotted him in a small part in "Apollo 13" as one of the Houston engineers.

A: Jimmie Hawkins played the role of Annie's kid brother in the 1952-56 Western series. He also had a recurring role on "The Donna Reed Show" as Scotty Simpson. If he appeared in "Apollo 13," his name wasn't listed in the movie's cast credits. "Annie Oakley" star Gail Davis - who in real life was a crack shot and expert rider - died of cancer on March 15. She was 71 years old.

Q: Please settle a family feud. What was Michael Landon's pet name for Melissa Gilbert's character in "Little House on the Prairie"?

A: Charles Ingalls (Landon) often called daughter Laura "half-pint." Later, Gilbert used the name for her own own company, Half-Pint Productions.

Q: My favorite TV show is "Party of Five." Will it stay on the air?

A: "Party of Five" just got the green light for a fourth season on Fox. Season 3 comes to an end on April 2.

Q: I am enjoying the reruns of "Dallas." I am curious to know if Barbara Bel Geddes and Howard Keel are still acting?

A: Bel Geddes has kept a low profile since her days as "Dallas" matriarch Miss Ellie. She missed two seasons of the series for health reasons. Howard Keel, who played Clayton Farlow, appeared with other "Dallas" exes on an episode of Chuck Norris' Dallas-based "Walker, Texas Ranger."
