Seen, Heard, Said
Crime took a bite out of "Star Wars" at the box office - the Johnny Depp-Al Pacino mob drama "Donnie Brasco" opened with an estimated $11.2 million and knocked Luke and Co. into third place. But, of course, "The Empire" struck back and kept its No. 1 position with a cool $12.6 mil. The rest of the top 10: "Booty Call," "Absolute Power," "Dante's Peak," "Vegas Vacation," "Fools Rush In," "Marvin's Room" and "Rosewood."
Baby on board: Genie Francis will have to leave "General Hospital" this month because she's with child and, as the story puts it delicately, "tends to get real big." A show rep points out that Genie's character is not pregnant in the soap and "you can only shoot someone from the shoulders up for so long." Genie's hubby is actor/director Jonathan Frakes of "Star Trek: The Next Generation" fame. The baby is due in June.
Genie and her show, by the way, cleaned up at the Soap Opera Digest awards. "GH" took six, including favorite show and Genie's trophy for outstanding lead actress. "The Young and the Restless" took four, including Eric Braedon's top-actor award. The Digest honors feature some categories you won't find anywhere else, such as outstanding villainess (Michelle Stafford of "Y&R") and villain ("Days of Our Lives' " Joseph Mascolo); the "hottest" stars ("Hospital's" Ingo Rademacher and Vanessa Marcil) - honestly, we can't imagine what they mean by that - and the "hottest romance" ("Days' " Austin Peck and Christie Clark). OK, we admit it. We know exactly what they mean by that.
Couples in transit: -- Patti D'Arbanville, of "New York Undercover" and mother of Don Johnson's son, has filed for divorce from husband No. 3 Terry Quinn, a New York firefighter-turned-bar-owner. They have three kids. -- Eric Clapton is seeing Moira Kelly, on the big screen now as Gena Rowlands' teen daughter in "Unhook the Stars." But don't get huffy - in real life, she turns 29 on Thursday. -- Shauna O'Brien, volleyball player/Playboy model and former Charlie Sheen diversion, has married L.A. eatery owner Chris Wood. -- Jennifer Paige Barclay, founder of Blue Fish Clothing - dresser of Oprah, Julia Roberts and Cher - is saying her nine-month marriage to Neil Bernstein is invalid, that the Buddhist monk who did the nups "did not have the authority to unite the parties in marriage." According to the wire, this would be to Jennifer's benefit since Neil wants half of her assets. Kinda sounds like a plot from "L.A. Law," doesn't it?
