Man Probed In Second Killing

LONGVIEW - A man charged with killing a 12-year-old girl in November is under investigation in the disappearance of another girl in 1985.

Joseph Kondro, 37, is charged with aggravated first-degree murder in the slaying of Kara Rudd, who disappeared Nov. 21 from outside the school. Her body was found Jan. 4 in a ravine on Mount Solo, west of town.

Detective Sgt. Steve Rehaume confirmed Thursday that police have reopened the case of Rima Traxler, who was 8 when she vanished on May 15, 1985. The Longview girl was last seen walking home from school.

Rehaume described Kondro as "the primary person of interest" in Rima's disappearance.
