Experimental College Takes A Break
SEATTLE - The Experimental College, which for almost three decades has offered a range of adult-education courses, will temporarily close for two academic quarters.
This winter's classes will run until the end of the quarter, but the college will not offer classes for the spring and summer quarters, said James Del Ciello, the school's director.
Run by the Associated Student Body of the University of Washington, the Experimental College typically serves between 12,000 and 15,000 students each quarter, Del Ciello said. The noncredit classes range from holistic healing to real-estate investing.
The college has consistently run a deficit, Del Ciello said.
The college's Board of Control decided to shut the school for two quarters because it needs to make structural, administrative and technological changes, Del Ciello said.
