Reign's Venus Lacy Escapes Serious Injury In LA. Auto Accident
RUSTON, La. - Venus Lacy, Seattle Reign center, escaped serious injury in an automobile accident today.
A spokesperson at Lincoln General Hospital in Ruston said Lacy was in good condition and was being treated for minor injuries. By mid-morning it hadn't been determined if she would be admitted.
Lacy's husband, Harry Livingston, told the Ruston Daily Leader that Venus had suffered a "mild concussion" but was otherwise OK.
Accordiing to Ruston police, the accident occurred about 9 a.m. at a downtown intersection and involved a 1992 Mitsubishi driven by Lacy and a 1995 Jeep Cherokee, driven by Henry S. Roane, 3rd.
Lacy was driving eastbound through the intersection when her car was hit by the Roane vehicle, the police said. Roane was attempting to make a left-hand turn. He was not injured seriously.
Lacy, a 1996 Olympic gold medalist and star of Louisiana Tech's 1988 championship women's basketball team, has been in her hometown rehabilitating a knee since she went underwent surgery in December.
