Detective Foils A Bank Robbery

SEATTLE - Police Detective Mike Magan was in the right place at the right time.

Magan, assigned to the multiagency Puget Sound Violent Crimes Task Force that often targets bank robbers, was in the Queen Anne branch of Wells Fargo Bank, 400 Queen Anne Ave. N., on personal business yesterday. When a teller shouted to the bank manager, "We have been robbed," Magan turned and saw a suspicious man hurrying from the bank.

Magan darted out the door and followed the suspect to a nearby parking lot, where the man had entered a car driven by an accomplice, said Robbie Burroughs, FBI spokeswoman.

Magan drew his gun and arrested both men and then radioed for other officers to help. Magan recovered all of the loot.
