Prep Basketball -- King's Girls Blitz Orting

SHORELINE - Sonya Roosendaal and Heather Reichmann combined to score 22 of King's 32 first-quarter points as the Knights trounced Orting 92-23 yesterday in a nonleague girls basketball game.

King's (2-0) led by 40 points at halftime.

Roosendaal and Reichmann each finished with 18 points, and Reichamann grabbed a team-high nine rebounds.

King's West 49, Patrick Henry (San Diego) 30 - Sonja Kuske, a 5-8 senior forward, collected 12 points, seven rebounds, five blocks and four steals as King's West (3-1) grabbed fifth place in the 16-team Francis Parker Invitational Tournament. Beth Ellis scored 13 points for the Bremerton school.

Snohomish County Christian 44, Overlake 30 - Annie Walker scored 15 points and made eight steals, Sarah Parsons added 14 rebounds and nine points and Marjie Harlick contributed 15 rebounds and 12 points for the Lions (1-3), who claimed seventh place in the La Conner Tip-Off Tournament.

Lopez 53, Cascade Christian 45 - Lopez never trailed on its way to winning the third-place game at the Master's Touch Tournament, but it did get a scare when the Cougars tied the game at 38 early in the third quarter. But Lopez pulled away by getting the ball to its inside players. Cara Smith scored 11 of her game-high 21 in the fourth quarter to help Lopez pull away with a 18-12 advantage. Linnet Rain grabbed 17 rebounds to go along with 15 points for Lopez (2-2), and teammate Serina Adams had 14 boards while Smith added 11.

Watson Groen Christian 49, at Kittitas 44 - Tracy Paris led the Crusader comeback by scoring 10 of her game-high 16 points in the final quarter. Watson Groen trailed by 18 points more than halfway through the third quarter but Paris' furious finish and Heather Broekhuis' clutch free-throw shooting rallied Watson Groen (4-1). Kittitas, a Class B state finalist last season, lost Alyssum Myrick midway through the fourth quarter on fouls. Paris went on to score six points in the game's final five minutes and Heather Broekhuis hit four straight free throws to close out the game as Watson Groen outscored Kittitas 18-5 in the final quarter.

Late Friday boys

At Garfield 52, Blanchet 44 - Garfield came out running and Blanchet couldn't keep up the pace as the Bulldogs won the nonleague game between Metro AAA and AA teams. Junior guard Jayvon Nickens led Garfield with 12 points while teammate Nick Leonard picked up eight points coming off the bench. Senior Chris Kennedy scored 12 points for Blanchet.

At Cleveland 59, Chief Sealth 56 - Sophomore Andy Chow made a three-point shot with 20 seconds remaining to break a 56-56 tie and give the Eagles a win in the Metro opener. Cleveland (1-0, 4-1) trailed by five at the start of the third quarter, but Martin Harris brought the Eagles back by scoring eight of his game-high 16 points in the final period. Mike Bass led the Seahawks with 12.
