Pilot Ejects, Lands On Deck When Night Landing Goes Awry
BREMERTON - An F-18 Hornet crashed while attempting to make a night landing on the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln in the North Pacific, the Navy said today.
The Marine Corps pilot ejected and landed on the flight deck in the accident at 7:17 last night., the Navy said. The pilot had no serious injuries but was airlifted to a Bremerton hospital.
The plane was lost.
The Abraham Lincoln is conducting a week of sea trials after undergoing maintenance at the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard in Bremerton. The carrier is scheduled to return to Puget Sound
tomorrow.
