Man Sentenced In Stabbing
TACOMA - A former Fort Lewis soldier has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for fatally stabbing a man in retaliation for a drive-by shooting.
Solomon Barela Jr., 23, was sentenced yesterday in Pierce County Superior Court in the Feb. 19 slaying of Kalon D. Robey, 20, of Lakewood.
Barela was wounded and lost the sight in one eye when shots were fired in January 1995 at the duplex where Barela, his son and his pregnant girlfriend lived. Barela admitted killing Robey after Robey bragged about participating in the shooting. Barela pleaded guilty to first-degree murder.
