Ex-Judge Pekelis To Join Ethics Panel

SEATTLE - Former state Supreme Court Justice Rosselle Pekelis is the newest member of the Seattle Ethics and Elections Commission.

Pekelis joined the Seattle office of JAMS/Endispute's, a private mediation service, after she lost her appointed Supreme Court seat to Richard Sanders last year. She served a total of 15 years as a trial and appeals-court judge, and was named Trial Lawyers' Judge of the Year a decade ago.

Pekelis was appointed to her new, volunteer position on the seven-member commission by Mayor Norm Rice, and confirmed by the Seattle City Council. Her term will end on Dec. 31, 1999. In selecting her, Rice yesterday praised Pekelis' "impeccable credentials and a well-deserved reputation for integrity."
