Warm Springs Fire In Oregon Reported 90 Percent Contained
PORTLAND - Firefighters mopped up the wildfire on the Warm Springs Indian Reservation today while others moved on to other Oregon blazes, hoping to get them under control before the next round of lightning and hot weather.
The 115,000-acre Simnasho fire on the Warm Springs reservation was 90 percent contained today, with full containment expected by tomorrow.
Fires still burning around Oregon:
-- The 10,030-acre Wildcat fire in the Malheur National Forest in Eastern Oregon, which is 35 percent contained and should be fully contained Sept. 1.
-- The Tower complex of fires, which have burned across 2,400 acres in the Umatilla National Forest.
-- Scattered fires northeast of John Day and west of Baker City in Eastern Oregon, in the Ochoco National Forest in central Oregon and in the Fremont National Forest in southern Oregon.
