Sperm Bank Is For Whites Only -- Spokane Effort Reportedly Funded By Tycoon

SPOKANE - A Spokane sperm bank dedicated to preserving racial purity reportedly is being financed by an Ohio multimillionaire.

Floyd Kimble is bankrolling the whites-only sperm bank through the tax-exempt Foundation for the Continuity of Mankind, which boasts assets of $40 million, the Spokesman-Review said in a copyright story Sunday.

Sperm samples donated by 65 men are stored at the foundation's downtown Spokane office.

Dora Vaux, the 72-year-old woman who manages the sperm bank, told the Spokane newspaper she wants to collect "a lot more sperm from high-achieving white men" before she gives any away.

The foundation's chief concerns are "racial purity" and the preservation of the white race, Vaux said. She said the foundation is not racist.

The sperm collection is a "repository for the future," Doris Kimble, wife of Floyd Kimble, said when reached in Ohio by the Spokesman-Review. She said the samples were needed "in case the purity of mankind is wiped out by famine or disease."

Floyd Kimble, 68, of Dover, Ohio, did not respond to repeated requests by the Spokesman-Review for an interview. Kimble has substantial land holdings in eastern Ohio and operates strip mines, landfills and a dairy ranch. He also owns 500 oil and natural-gas wells.

The foundation's brochure says it's worried about "heredity impairments," including genetically inherited diseases. Vaux said that's why the sperm bank rejects gay donors: "It may be a hereditary thing."

None of the current donors is from the Pacific Northwest, Vaux said. She said she scans scientific journals, newspapers and magazines for "intelligent" prospective donors before writing them a solicitation letter.

Donors must complete lengthy questionnaires and physical exams.

"They are engineers, attorneys, farmers, all sorts of people," she said. "Just about all nationalities, but no black people, because that wouldn't be the best thing to do, collect black sperm and mix it with white sperm."
