Five Navy Ships Due To Celebrate Seafair

SEATTLE - Five vessels of the Navy's Pacific Fleet will cruise into Elliott Bay this week as part of the annual Seafair festivities.

The Navy ships will be preceded by the U.S. Coast Guard cutter Alert, which arrives tomorrow afternoon.

Then the aircraft carrier USS Constellation, two destroyers, a fast frigate and a guided missile cruiser are scheduled to sail into port Wednesday.

A "Meet the Fleet" dance at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Seattle Center House will provide the city with its first chance to meet the crews.

Ship tours begin at 10 a.m. Thursday and run through Sunday evening. The USS Constellation and the Alert will tie up at Pier 66.

The destroyers USS David R. Ray and the USS Elliot, and the USS Rentz, a fast frigate, will be at Pier 90.

The guided missile cruiser Chancellorsville will be at Pier 91.
