Cougars Attack 2 Children

NAKUSP, B.C. - A cougar dragged an 8-year-old boy by his neck into the bush in southeastern British Columbia yesterday before his father managed to drive off the big cat.

It was the second cougar attack on a child in the province in the same day.

Lance Veinguessner was in stable condition at Children's Hospital in Vancouver with neck wounds.

In Lytton, about 100 miles northeast of Vancouver, 5-year-old Christine Frank needed hospital treatment after she was attacked while playing on a swing in front of her home. Afterward, the cougar fled into the bush.
